Robert Lamarche
Deconstruction or fragmentation of objects into their simplest form is at the heart of my work. There are no longer silhouettes, constructions, or recognizable places. Instead, there are sequences of shapes and colors that merge or overlap, vaguely evoking their origins. It is a return to the beginning of the world, with matter in a state of fusion.
Paradoxically, it is also a daring leap into the future and its irrational structures. Ore, granite laced with quartz, sediment filled with fossilized history everything that is earth and stone, everything that is raw material is a constant presence in my work, and in a way, forms a memory of the essential.
