Gilles Payette
Poured glass into sand molds to create large sculptures this is the path of her experimentation, the force that drives her creation, like an instrument for a musician. The artist plays with sand to create a mold in which the glass will take shape, becoming capable of translating the exact expression of her thought.
By playing with transparency and color, by bending the form and breaking the mold, by deconstructing what protects and envelops us, her work compels a meditation on ourselves and on what we are.
Through glass, the artist seeks to convey an impression of lightness and to evoke a sense of the sacred, of the spiritual.
